“18 months ago I got ‘bullied’ into a circuit class at BodyClocq, an hour of which was more than enough for me to realise that I really was an unfit thirty something.

Having had a fairly successful cycling career 15 years previously I decided to dust off the old bike and get a few miles in an attempt to at least keep up at the circuit class.

I was bitten fairly quickly by the cycling bug again and by Christmas, with a combination of circuits, Boxercise and cycling; I felt I had got some level of fitness back - enough to put the crazy notion of going racing again in my head.

One crazy notion seemed to lead to another and early in 2008 I’d decided to have a crack at the National Masters Track Championships scheduled for the start of July.

To give myself a fighting chance at the beginning of March I decided to sign up to weekly PT sessions with Laurence. When I last rode seriously training consisted of nothing more than riding the bike so any form of ‘gym’ work was very alien to me.

The tuition was excellent and Laurence spent a lot of time in the early sessions making sure my technique was right. We started with sessions combining the use of free weights and Kettlebells and as the Championships grew closer incorporated some intensive work on an indoor cycle trainer.

Every session has been immensely hard work but it is amazing how much harder you can push yourself when someone else is calling the shots. Laurence does have an amazing ability to get you working at 100% in everything you do so whilst the sessions never get any easier the results of the work do show very quickly.

The support and guidance outside of the PT sessions has also been excellent. This effectively means I have a nutrition plan and a training schedule to work to so that everyday is a constructive day with a purpose that I understand the benefit of.

The Track Championships have been and gone and the results probably speak for themselves. A Pursuit time 1 second off what was a very ambitious target and in reality 4 seconds quicker than anything I thought I might realistically achieve.

The icing on the cake was a Silver Medal in the Points Race.

It certainly hasn’t been an easy 4 months but it has been hugely enjoyable. I am absolutely amazed at how quickly we have achieved these results and I know there is no way these would have been achieved without Laurence’s help . “

This is the team of clients we entered in the brutal Tough Guy event. This was well beyond what most of them thought they could do but our training and their willpower got them through! Close to 7.000 individuals entered the event and just about 2000 people completed it All of our team made to the finish line. A great testimonial for the level of conditioning achieved at BodyClocq!

This one was 1000 repetitions in 40 minutes with a 24kg Kettlebell – not very nice!
